A Decade of See Me…

Scotland’s national campaign to end the stigma and discrimination attached to mental ill health celebrated its 10th anniversary with a reception in Parliament.

Over the last decade, See Me… campaigners have worked to change public understanding, attitudes and behaviours towards mental ill health. Around one in four people will be affected by mental ill health in their lifetime but for many people there is a lack of basic understanding about these conditions.

To mark 10 years of the campaign, MSPs were asked to write down their hopes for the campaign’s work over next ten years.

I have been impressed by the progress that the See Me campaign has made over its lifetime and hope that by 2022 the campaign will have achieved its goal of making the stigma surrounding mental health issues a thing of the past.
