Concerns following ERI inspection

I was worried to see the report by the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate which says that 4 out of 9 ERI wards are failing cleanliness standards.

Hospital acquired infections need to be tackled but cutting back on nurses and the budget for cleaning hospitals is making the situation worse. My colleague Jackie Baillie is absolutely right to call for urgent action.

Not only did the Inspectorate find that four out of nine wards inspected failed cleanliness but that patient equipment was not kept clean; staff dress code was not properly followed; senior charge nurses were not in control of infection control in their wards; and warned of a risk of legionella.
