Carers across Edinburgh are being encouraged to apply for a one-off support payment from the city council.
The Carer’s Support Scheme provides a one-off payment of £250 for carers to spend on themselves – to maintain their health and wellbeing or for a short break from caring.
The scheme is open to unpaid carers provided they meet certain criteria set out by the Council. You can find full terms and conditions and details of how to apply here. The fund is limited and applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis up to 28 February 2014.
With research indicating that carers across the UK miss out on over one billion pounds of support every year it is important to publicise support where it is available. I hope that carers across Edinburgh will look into the Carer’s Support Scheme and apply if they think they are eligible.
